Our Story

Doede Chiropractic has been a trusted part of the Spokane Valley community since 1978. Built on decades of hands-on care, relationships, and service, the practice has helped generations of families move better and feel better.

In 2026, Dr. Jared Hendershot joined the practice with Dr. Richard Doede with the goal of honoring that legacy while continuing to grow the clinic for the future.

The name Beacon Chiropractic reflects that vision: to be a beacon of wellness, fitness, and inspiration by providing personalized care and empowering individuals and families to move better, feel better, and live healthier.

Dr. Richard Doede

Dr. Richard Doede is the founder of what began as Doede Chiropractic in 1978, establishing a practice that would go on to serve the Spokane Valley community for decades. Through his commitment to patient-centered care, practical treatment, and long-term wellness, Dr. Doede built a reputation that has earned the trust of generations of local families.

Known for his approachable personality and genuine commitment to his patients, Dr. Doede has helped individuals of all ages move better, feel better, and remain active throughout every stage of life. His approach to chiropractic care has always been conservative and practical, with an emphasis on improving function, reducing discomfort, and supporting healthy movement without unnecessary intervention.

Dr. Doede graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, in 1978. He is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician and is certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners in acupuncture. In 1981, he introduced laser acupuncture and meridian therapy to the Spokane area, reflecting an early interest in incorporating innovative treatment approaches into patient care.

Raised on an apple orchard along the shores of Lake Chelan, Dr. Doede has maintained an active lifestyle throughout his life. An avid skier, runner, and cyclist, he also enjoys camping and boating with his family. His continued commitment to staying active well into his 70s reflects the same philosophy he has encouraged in his patients for decades: that healthy movement and consistent wellness habits can support a vibrant, fulfilling life at any age.

For several decades, Dr. Doede remained at the heart of Doede Chiropractic, building not only a successful practice but a lasting legacy of personalized care, healthy living, and community involvement. Today, that legacy continues as Doede Chiropractic becomes Beacon Chiropractic & Wellness, carrying forward the foundation he established in 1978 while continuing to serve the next generation of Spokane Valley families.

Dr. Jared Hendershot

Dr. Jared Hendershot is a chiropractor and owner of Beacon Chiropractic & Wellness, formerly Doede Chiropractic. His approach to care is rooted in a simple goal: helping people move better, feel better, and live healthier with confidence, encouragement, and practical tools they can use in everyday life.

His path to chiropractic began after experiencing a significant back injury through wrestling, which gave him a firsthand appreciation for how pain and limited movement can affect a person’s life. That experience shaped the way he cares for patients today—with empathy, curiosity, and a focus on helping each person find a path forward.

Dr. Hendershot earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College in 2020 and completed a preceptorship at Walter Reed, where he gained valuable exposure to collaborative care in physical medicine, rehabilitation, and orthopedic settings.

At Beacon Chiropractic, Dr. Hendershot combines hands-on chiropractic treatment, soft tissue work, movement-based care, and modern recovery tools such as laser therapy. He is honored to continue the legacy of Doede Chiropractic, a practice that has served Spokane Valley families since 1978, while building the next chapter of care through Beacon’s mission of wellness, fitness, and inspiration.

Outside the office, Dr. Hendershot is a husband, father, and outdoor enthusiast who enjoys mountain biking, soccer, strength training, and spending time with his family. His goal is for every patient to feel heard, supported, and better equipped to keep doing the things they love.
